Sri Lanka is recognized as The Birds Paradise. As Sri Lanka lies off the southern tip of the Indian sub-continent it is favored by many species of migrant birds flying down using the Central Asian Indian Flyway to spend the colder months of the year.

Bird watching is becoming popular around the world and Sri Lanka can easily be promoted as one such destination. The best bird watching places are Kumana National Park, Wilpattu National Park, Sinharaja Forest etc.

Kitesurfing

Kalpitiya is the best spot for kite surf in Sri Lanka: with excellent winds throughout the year for practicing this sport. The best season for Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya is from mid-May to September, as the winds are more constant and reliable. There are several spots for everyone ranging from flat water lagoons for beginners to wave riding spots in the Indian Ocean for serious kite surfers. Also, there is the possibility of joining kite trips to over a dozen other sandbanks located nearby tiny islands. There is enough space for uncrowded kitesurfing sessions, making Kalpitiya a haven for kiter surfers in Sri Lanka!

Kandy Temple

Kandy is the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka for the Sinhala Kings before British colonization. Kandy is most popular for its natural beauty with the relaxing climate and for the most popular Temple of the Tooth relic where Lord Buddha’s tooth relic is placed sacredly which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth is Kandy’s main attraction, so a visit to this holy site is a must!

Adams Peak

The climb up Adams Peak has great significance to Buddhists with most wanting to do the pilgrimage at least once in their lives. In recent years it has become a must-do for all adventurous travelers to the country!

While the sacred mountain is primarily a Buddhist pilgrimage site it does also have major significance for Christians, Muslims and Hindus who each have legends about the origin of the footprint depression at the top of the mountain.
